Dear Fantasy Reader is a romantasy podcast, book club, and reader-driven zone hosted by book besties Hannah, Kinsey, and Karly. This space is made for readers who want to feel prepared, deeply immersed, and emotionally connected to the stories they love. Whether you're catching up before a new release or breaking down a twist that wrecked you, we’re your co-pilots through it all, making sure you never feel lost in the lore or fangirl alone again!
HOW DEAR FANTASY READER CAME TO LIFE:
From Bookstagram to Book Besties
Dear Fantasy Reader launched in July 2024 after a brutal book hangover from Iron Flame left Hannah spiraling with theories and no one to share them with.
What started as a personal outlet quickly resonated with fellow romantasy readers looking for a space to scream, process, and deep dive into their favorite stories.
By December, Kinsey and Karly joined as co-hosts, and the show fully found its voice. Karly had been running her own podcast, Dragon Readers, and all three of us had already bonded on Bookstagram over our shared Empyrean theory obsession. When Kinsey floated the idea of teaming up, the conversation quickly turned into, "Wait... should we just do this together?" Spoiler alert: we did. And listeners agree, the show has never been the same in the best possible way.
We found our book bestie soulmates in each other and were soon FaceTiming more than we slept, spiraling over book boyfriends, theories, and what it means to read with your whole heart (and create 99-page annotation spreadsheets). That energy lives in every episode we make. We turned a shared love for fantasy into friendship, and that friendship into chosen family—and that’s what Dear Fantasy Reader is really about.
Since then, we’ve deep-dived, theorized, annotated, and laugh-cried our way through multiple seasons, including our Onyx Storm prep and chapter-by-chapter coverage.
And we’re just getting started!

Meet the hosts of Dear Fantasy Reader
Hannah
Creator and Producer of Dear Fantasy Reader, and our fearless fangirl-in-chief. Hannah always loved reading, but Fourth Wing reignited her obsession and sent her spiraling straight back to her Twilight-devouring middle school days (yes, she really read Breaking Dawn over 30 times).
Before joining the online book space, Hannah became a Swiftie content creator best known for being one of the first to recreate Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Lover bodysuit by hand—her tutorials went viral, launching her into the creator world.
Paired with a Master’s in Sociology & Criminology, Hannah brings a rare blend of creative flair and analytical insight. She’s the behind-the-scenes force keeping everything on track, and you can count on her to clock every easter egg with Swift-trained precision, all while bringing unmatched fangirl energy and hype.
She’s also the one most likely to spend hours combing through author interviews for hidden clues, and turn it all into neatly categorized slides for readers who are just as unhinged (but have a little less time).
Whether she’s gasping over theories or swooning over magical romantic gestures, her reactions are iconic and a favorite among listeners.
KINSEY
Scene Analyzer. Meme Queen. Emotional support reader-in-chief. Kinsey had been a lifelong reader, but when she stumbled upon Fourth Wing at her local library in April 2024, a new kind of obsession took hold. She devoured it in one sitting. On a work night. And everything changed. That same day, she drove to Barnes & Noble on her lunch break to buy her own copies and skipped lunch to dive into Iron Flame: a true fangirl origin story.
After falling headfirst into the Empyrean series, Kinsey tore through ACOTAR, Throne of Glass (her Roman Empire series), and every romantasy recommendation she could find.
With her family relocating and no local book friends to scream with, she took the spiraling online and started a Bookstagram. That same energy now fuels the pod, where she brings her signature humor, unhinged reactions, and razor-sharp instincts for what’s coming next!
Kinsey’s the one who makes you laugh-cry during even the most devastating plot twists. Her love for characters runs so deep, it feels like she’s talking about real people! She’s also the most likely to spot the emotional gut punch five chapters early… and meme it by lunchtime.
KARLY
Chaos Theorist, Lore Keeper, and bookish study guide queen, Karly created some of the first Empyrean lore and topic guides to circulate in the online book community. She first picked up Fourth Wing while recovering from an injury and the series quickly became a hyperfixation.
She started a Bookstagram to share her spiraling thoughts and theories with other readers, and when her followers begged for more long-form content, the Dragon Readers podcast was born (you can still find those episodes under Dear Dragon Readers in our Season 2 bonus episodes)! It’s no exaggeration to say her theories changed Hannah and Kinsey’s brain chemistry and set the tone for the pod’s signature deep dives.
By fifth grade, Karly was already hooked on John Grisham novels—because nothing captures the magic of childhood quite like complex legal plots and morally gray lawyers. As a self-described autistic Libra, it’s probably the most on brand thing about her.
She’s read and annotated Fourth Wing at least 12 times (yes, really), and she’s known for making even the most complex lore feel accessible. She brings encyclopedic Empyrean knowledge and bold, brilliant theories to every episode. If there’s a detail buried in the worldbuilding, she’s already found it, connected it to a prophecy, cross-referenced her notes, and built a theory spreadsheet before anyone else saw it coming.
